Lou Posner: The Interface Between Life and Art
Katherine Webster, Posner’s all-time favorite model, sits quietly as an incoming storm gathers around her. Posner suggested the increasing wind through the details of the scene: colored streamers and pink tablecloths flapping in the wind, a paper bag blown across the floor, bent dune grass, and Katherine’s wind-whipped hair.
The violence of the approaching storm is contrasted with the calm repose of Katherine and the Siamese cat, which belonged to Posner and his wife. As Posner described it, “The model is serenely transfixed by the forces of nature. The cat is snoozing contentedly, oblivious of the impending storm.”
